A children’s court heard the elderly man had peered around the corner of a Mair Street building when he heard the accused and a female fighting on Friday, November 27.
A police prosecutor told the court the man and the accused made eye contact before the man turned away.
The accused, who was on bail at the time, then allegedly yelled at the man and came after him before kicking the man and causing him to fall to the ground.
The accused allegedly continued to kick the man while he lay on the ground before running from the scene.
The victim, who received a broken collarbone as a result of the assault, was taken to hospital.
The court heard, two hours after the alleged assault, the accused visited his father’s house where an argument broke out.
As he left the property the accused punched his father’s car window, smashing it and causing $2000 in damages.
Police later attended a property where they believed the accused was.
Upon arriving the accused allegedly began to call police names before attempting to strike one of the officers as they arrested him.
A police prosecutor said the accused bit another officer and continued to “violently” resist arrest before pepper spray was deployed and he was subdued.
Four days before the assaults on November 27, it was alleged the accused was involved in another confrontation with police officers.
The court heard the accused was escorted from the foyer of a law court after becoming agitated near members of the public.
A police prosecutor told the court the accused punched a security guard to the head multiple times after they placed their hand on his back to escort him from the building.
A second security guard who came to assist was also punched.
Police were called and during efforts to arrest the accused, he attempted to headbutt and bite officers.
Once arrested the accused made similar attempts when escorted to police cells before being released on bail the following morning.
Charged with a string of offences including recklessly cause serious injury, assault by kicking, unlawful assault, intentionally damage property, assault emergency worker on duty and commit indictable offence whilst on bail, the accused appeared in court on Monday morning under heavy police guard.
The accused’s defence lawyer made no application for bail.
The magistrate remanded the teenager to reappear in court on January 18.
