The 17-year-old Ballarat Specialist School student might not have the use of his arms, but it hasn't stopped him from creating from awe-inspiring paintings.
Using his head, a button and a remote control car, the Ballarat Specialist School student will has completed his first exhibition, to be unveiled on Wednesday night. Each of the 20 pieces took three weeks to complete. Lucas worked alongside his education support worker, Rhonda Curnow, to chose the colours and canvas for each painting.
“It will be a bit emotional seeing his art work on display, just knowing he put his heart and soul into every piece,” Ms Curnow said.
The technique has proven so successful the school is seeking help from electrical experts to create more remote-control devises, including a flying helicopter, that students like Lucas can use to paint. The exhibition will be at the Ballarat Specialist School, 25 Gillies Street North, on Wednesday, from 4.30 to 6pm.
