A TOOL chest with more than $1500 worth of equipment was stolen from the Victoria Street headquarters of the Ballarat Rode RAGE team at the weekend.
Between Thursday night and Saturday night, offenders broke into the building, part of the old Damascus College in Victoria Street, by smashing a window in the door.
The break-in is the third the team has had to deal with in the past year.
Rode RAGE team manager Tony Davidson said the latest break-in was almost the final straw for the group, which build and race their vehicles in Race Against Zero Emissions events.
They are currently aiming to compete in the RACV Energy breakthrough competition in November and plan to travel to Cambodia in the new year to help at an orphanage.
“It’s three times now...we might have to close the group if this keeps up,” Mr Davidson said.
“The first time it was the trikes, then it was our tools, now they’ve taken all of our tools again.”
Mr Davidson said the team had worked hard to raise money to replace the tools that were stolen last time.
He said security was upgraded at their workshop after each break-in, but there was little more they could do.
“I’m hoping some parents notice a new tool chest in their back shed and call the police,” he said.
The chest is red, about 1.5 metres tall with several front-facing draws.
