Lighting up Lake Wendouree for leukaemia

BALLARAT’S Lake Wendouree was showcased in a spectacular light on Friday as the city paused to recognise leukaemia.

Youngsters Sylvia Doherty, 12, and Charlotte Cheater, 5, joined the inaugural Light the Night event, which aims to give those living with leukaemia and their family and friends an inspiring twilight walk featuring bright lanterns of hope.

Gold lanterns helped remember a loved one, white lanterns reflected life with blood cancer and blue acted as a sign to support others.

Organisers said the event featured moving stories from those affected by blood cancer, helping raise money to fund vital research to help cure leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma.
