BUNINYONG Golf Club’s 20th annual Golden Putters event was held yesterday.
The event attracted 96 women to the club from all over western Victoria to compete for the 2012 title.
The winning pair, Gale Orford and Julie Guiney from Hepburn Springs golf club, were each rewarded with a putter, dipped in gold about seven times.
“We’re both going to frame it and put it on the wall – not going to play with it all,” Ms Orford said.
“Both Julie and I have competed in eight to 10 Golden Putter events over the years and never won, so this is a great honour. We’re very proud.”
Prizes were also awarded to pairs in second and third place.
Women competed in pairs covering the 18-hole course in groups of four.

“It’s a four ball, best ball stroke event,” Ms Feltham said.
“The course was in really nice condition.
“It has been wet in the past, but played nicely today especially with the sun out. The greens were very slick.”
The day started at 9.30am and finished about 3pm when the women enjoying a lunch.
“It’s a milestone for the club, and for Ballarat Bearings who have sponsored the event for 20 years,” Ms Feltham said.

“It’s a nice day out for the women – it’s competitive but they don’t mind if they don’t win.”
