DEEJAY Dilinger was all the rage following his slashing last-start victory at Terang.
The four-year-old caught the eye when he broke the 1680m track record last week as a C0 pacer.
Deejay Dilinger speared straight to the lead and was never headed, racing away to win in a sizzling 1.55.9 mile rate.
His 25m victory came just nine days after running last in a field of eight at Bray Raceway.
On this occasion, the son of D M Dilinger went back after the start before whipping around and sitting outside the leader throughout.
He found little in the run to the line, dropping out to finish at the tail of the field.
Now the Courtney Slater-trained pacer returns to Ballarat looking to build on his reputation.
Tonight, he draws gate three in a C1 only event over the sprint trip, chasing win number two at his fifth start at the track.
His previous victory came as a three-year-old in July this year.
Prepared at Elliminyt, near Colac, Deejay Dilinger has raced 10 times for four victories.
His main danger appears to be the talented Cyrus, who finished fourth behind Philadelphia Man in the group 1 Vicbred Super Series (three-year-old colts and geldings) final in June.
Another runner of interest is Paul Rowse-trained local Savesomtimetodream, who goes around in a C5-C6 event over the 1710m trip.
The five-year-old returned from a short freshen-up in the same Terang meeting as Deejay Dilinger last week.
He was an impressive winner of the C4-C6 event for driver Jodi Quinlan, who positioned the son of Village Jasper towards the back of the field before unleashing a strong finishing burst to score by almost five metres.
The victory took his record to nine wins from 19 starts.
Savesomtimetodream, who finished a close-up fourth to boom pacer Caribbean Blaster before his let-up last month, is bound for next week’s group 2 $50,000 City of Melton Plate at Tabcorp Park.
