Gold Fields to perform on Grand Final night at Karova

IT might be the only grand final party in town where everyone stays in a good mood.

Ballarat dance band Gold Fields is putting on a farewell show for its hometown supporters tomorrow night before embarking on a two-month tour of the United States.

“It’s the last weekend we’re going to be in the country and that happened to be grand final weekend,” said guitarist Vin Andanar.

“Everyone will be in a good mood with the footy. We always play with a lot of energy and we have a lot of fun on stage.”

The band has been busy finishing its debut album, set to be released early 2013, and racking up plenty of radio airplay with its cover of The Lovin’ Spoonful’s classic Summer In The City.

Signed to Los Angeles record label Astralwerks – of The Chemical Brothers, David Guetta, Kylie Minogue and Placebo fame – the band plan to use grand final night to test the set for its American shows.

Dark Again, the first single from the debut album, is also likely to make an appearance.

“We’re going to give Summer In The City a go this weekend and play around with different visuals and lighting,” Andanar said.

“We’re just excited to have our family and friends come by and say bye to them.”

Also performing on the night will be Dark Arts, I Oh You DJs and Hunting Grounds DJs. Tickets are $10 and doors open at 8.30pm.
