Ballarat's sky turned black this morning, with lightning visible and heavy thunder rattling the city.
Although not a lot of rain is expected, the storm will bring a cold front that is set to result in a bitterly cold grand final day.
Weatherzone meteorologist Rob Sharpe said the storm had been moving across western Victoria throughout the morning.
No warnings have been issued, but Mr Sharpe warned of strong winds and lightning.
"There might be a burst of showers could bring a bit of rain, but it probably won't be all that heavy," he said.
"There will still be a bit of cloud and lightning throughout the day though."
The temperature yesterday reached a pleasant 22 degrees, but will fall today and plummet even further for AFL grand final day tomorrow.
A maximum of just eight degrees is forecast tomorrow, with a chance of hail and rain throughout the day.
