After the end of the panel hearing into the proposed Stockyard Hill Wind Farm, Origin decided to remove 10 turbines at the southern end of the wind farm. These turbines were within 5km of the Skipton township.
On two separate occasions I asked Origin why these turbines were removed.
They would not give me an answer. Instead they fobbed me off by saying they "would get back to me".
It is now over 12 months and I am yet to get an answer.
I can only conclude that they removed the turbines because they were afraid of the adverse impact they would have on the Skipton township.
Atmospheric conditions can occur where there is no wind at ground level - but windy at the height of turbines (80m to 150m).
On these occasions the noise can travel many kilometres.
This has been confirmed by many residents living greater than 5km from existing wind farms.
Origin are unwilling to publicly state this however there was obviously a problem having turbines within 5km of the town.
