Golden Plains Shire has allocated $478,000 to the $1 million project, with Regional Development Victoria also contributing $500,000.
The Well is a community hub which provides access to a general practitioner and pharmacy alongside other health services.
Earthworks, relocation of mechanical services and under slab plumbing is complete, with the slab also poured prior to the Christmas break.
“The Well, in addition to being an important resource to local people and local business, will also be ‘green’, with ten ecologically sustainable design initiatives,” Golden Plains Shire Mayor Des Phelan said.
“We look forward to when this great facility is open to the public.”
The facility upgrade is designed to ensure local businesses will have office space co-located with the services and with access to the town square, providing high visibility and connection with the community.
The professional services areas will provide a space for small business owners to hire an area on a regular basis or for ‘one off’ events to compliment other activities in the town.
The extension will also have its own entrance and access to amenities to allow public access to limited parts of the facility after hours and on weekends.
Golden Plains Shire Council engaged k20 Architecture as the lead architectural consultant, and construction firm Mantec Projects Pty Ltd.
