Andrew Braid appeared in the Ballarat Magistrates Court on Thursday where he pleaded guilty to one count of dishonestly assist in the retention of stolen goods.
Police prosecutor Senior Constable Sam Young told the court Braid posted a photo of a black iPod, valued at $100, to the social networking page between 2.30-6.30pm on September 13.
He said a prospective buyer, who had the iPod stolen from his car, messaged the accused about the item.
The court heard the buyer offered to purchase the item and arranged a time to meet. They met at 9.30pm on the same day where the accused was arrested.
In a police interview Braid said he didn’t know the item was stolen and had previously swapped “a couple of cones” for it.
Magistrate Cynthia Toose fined Braid $500 and convicted him.
