BOWLERS from around the region officially launched the new season at Victoria Bowling Club yesterday.
At the traditional opening ceremony, central Victoria regional chairman Ian Bishop rolled the first jack, Bowls Victoria director Val Savage delivered the first bowl before Ballarat District Bowls Division chairman Marilyn Blake declared the year underway.
Representatives from BDBD clubs then played eight ends of social bowls in preparation for the season ahead.
“It was a very successful day. It was fantastic. The weather was kind to us,” Blake said.
The BDBD midweek competitions begin with round one today before the premier and divisions 1-9 kick-off on Saturday.
