A teenage boy and a man aged in his 40s have been rescued in bushland in eastern Victoria after their inflatable dinghy sprang a leak on the Thomson River.

The pair called for help about 10.30pm on Saturday after the boat began taking on water, but rescue crews had to wait until first light to search for them.
Ambulance Victoria spokesman John Mullen said the pair were unsure where they were when they rang for help.
On Sunday morning the Air Ambulance spotted them along the Thomson River near Walhalla. They were winched to safety and taken to the Latrobe Regional Hospital.
Mr Mullen said the pair suffered cuts, scratches and hypothermia.
