Firth said anything less than promotion from National Premier Leagues Victoria 2 will be regarded as “failure” by the team, which has been training without a head coach since November last year prior to news of James Robinson’s reappointment on Friday.
The 26-year-old said there was a sense of closure and relief following the return of Robinson.
Firth believes there is also an overriding feeling of excitement within the playing group, which, he says, has been training to win the league during the past couple of months.
“It feels like it (off-field issues) has now come to an end and the boys just can’t wait to get out on the park and start playing and we are confident that we'll be able to,” Firth said.
Firth said the playing group would have backed any decision the board made in relation to a senior coach, but admitted it was fantastic to have Robinson in the job.
