Not many 15-year-olds can say they have made Australian legal history and helped other transgender young people across the country. But then not all 15-year-olds are like Georgie.

She's a Taylor Swift fan, a talented singer and songwriter and loves her family's ageing golden labrador Roxy (who has a weak spot for biscuits). So far, a teenage girl.
But when she was 10, Georgie was the subject of a landmark legal case, known as Re:Jamie, and its later appeal.
This successfully challenged the need for Georgie to get a judge's permission to begin puberty-blocking medication, the first stage of treatment for transgender children.
But Australia remains the only country in the world where transgender people under 18 have to go to the Family Court for access to cross-sex hormone therapy, the second stage of treatment.
So Georgie, her mum and twin brother, Harry, and a group of transgender young people will go to Parliament House this month to ask politicians to end this onerous requirement. They will be joined by legal and medical experts.

The court process is emotionally gruelling, moves at a glacial pace and is prohibitively expensive. Some families pay up to $30,000 in legal fees, says Georgie's mother, Rebekah Robertson.
"Court is the very definition of powerlessness for young people. Strangers are making decisions about their body and future without ever meeting them," says Ms Robertson.
And timing is of the utmost importance. Last year Georgie had to return to court to seek hormone treatment.
Her medical team had continuing difficulty suppressing her testosterone but if Georgie's doctors had been able to give her cross-sex hormones straight away it would have mitigated her distress immediately, says Rebekah,
She became very anxious while waiting for the court date, crying often. She dreaded her voice breaking, a physical change that is irreversible.
"The timing was awful," Georgie says. "At the same time I had this terrible cold that affected my voice and I thought it was breaking. I couldn't hit the high notes and singing is my passion. I thought, that is it."
When the court order was made Georgie and her mum went to the chemist to pick up the script - it cost $8.90.
Ms Robertson said she had to laugh in incredulity: "All the court appearances and the millions of taxpayer dollars later and there we were with a packet of oestrogen that cost $8.90".
About 50 per cent of trans adolescents without support try to self harm and about 30 per cent try to take their own lives.
La Trobe University's Dr Fiona Kelly will go to Parliament House. She has interviewed parents whose children have gone through the court process. Many watched their children's mental health deteriorate.
The cost also puts a heavy burden on families. Some find pro-bono legal assistance but other families are forced to remortgage their homes or take on a second loan, Dr Kelly said.
There has been an increase in the number of applications for hormones being heard by the Family Court. From just one or two to about 30 a year.
Dr Michelle Telfer is the head of the Royal Children's Hospital gender service and has seen demand grow from two patients in 2003 to around 170 new patients in 2015.
Preparing medical documents for court is time-consuming for the service's specialists, who write the 15-page assessments on top of their clinical case loads, Dr Telfer said.
Senator Janet Rice, whose partner is Nobel Prize-winning climatologist and trans woman Penny Whetton, will support the group on the Canberra trip.
The best outcome would be for the government to direct legislation be drawn up which would remove the court requirement, she says.
The group will meet with the Parliamentary Friendship Group for LGBTI Australians, and other politicians, on February 22.
