With less than three weeks left until Head of the Lake, the school’s performance at Lake Wendouree would be cause for optimism after winning both the male and female under-21 coxed four events.
BCC’s boys firsts crew, consisting of Henry Woodward, Ashley Kaufmann, Flynn Appleby, Robert Corden-McKinley and cox Ben Dowling, proved too good for St Patrick’s College and Ballarat High School.
St Pat’s finished the day with a win, however, as its firsts crew defeated Brighton Grammar by almost seven seconds in the male school coxed four open division one race, though BCC did not compete.
Meanwhile, BCC’s girls firsts crew defeated Ballarat Grammar and Loreto College in the under-21 event.
Grammar responded by finishing ahead of BCC in the female school coxed four open division one race, won by Melbourne Girls College. Grammar was runner-up in the event.
