Ballarat and District Trotting Club will this Friday hold a free night for workers from the volunteer agency which helps families and individuals in rural Australia after natural disasters.
BDTC chief executive Paul Rowse said the club was keen to show its support for the volunteers after learning of their efforts from race horse breeder Bruce Edward, who’s property was severely impacted by the fires.
“We found out the fantastic work they’ve done and we need to reward them for their efforts,” Mr Rowse said.
“We’ll have up to 50 volunteers coming here on Friday night.”
BlazeAid has provided significant support for residents in Scotsburn, with volunteers contributing time and energy to install permanent fencing to affected properties.
Mr Rowse said Racing Minister Martin Pakula will contribute to the the night, which will also help raise money for the Scotsburn Community Fundraiser.
General bookings and those looking to contribute goods or services for the raffle can do call Paul O’Donnell on 5335 9041.
