In spectacular fashion, Smeaton managed to knock City Oval of its perch on Monday, winning comprehensively 90-62.
A terrific effort from Rhonda Armstrong and her side played a key role, with the rink pulling off a dominant 41-18 victory.
Consequently, City Oval has lost its grip on top spot, sliding down to second position on the ladder.
Central Wendouree has taken its place after a 69-63 triumph over Webbcona.
In other results, Creswick put in an impressive display against Daylesford, winning 79-52, while Avenue gave cellar-dweller Clunes a harsh lesson with a 102-47 demolition.
Meanwhile, Midlands Golf proved far too good for Sebastopol in its 72-48 success. As a result, Midlands Golf has sneaked into the top four.
