Facing off against Castlemaine at City Oval, Ballarat Gold batted first to post an impressive total of 7-194, thanks largely to strong efforts from middle order pair Patrick Keogh (48) and Tom Walton (42).
Castlemaine was bowled out for 99.
Rather spectacularly, Ballarat Gold claimed its final wicket when Castlemaine’s James Chaffey was run out.
Indeed, the travellers never appeared to threaten Ballarat Gold, such was the quality of bowling from the home side.
Walton showed his versatility as an all-rounder, collecting impressive figures of 3-18 off eight overs, while Taylor Sutton also managed to snare three wickets as well.
Thomas Godson was perhaps the star of the bunch, however, with his outstanding economy. The youngster took 2-8 off seven overs, including five maidens.
Ballarat Gold, which ended the round matches as the highest-ranked association, has now won the last two Kirton Shield finals after beating Grampians last season.
