Coffey sits on top of the standings after the opening 13 rounds of the apprentice-only jockey competition.
He is set to ride the Fliedner-trained Bee Jay Zed in a leg of the series, a benchmark 64 handicap over 1400m.
Coffey’s mount returns to the Sportsbet-Ballarat circuit on the back of a last-start third placing at the track on February 2.
The four-year-old galloper is chasing his second win at start number 10 after breaking the maiden at Bendigo in April last year.
Coffey currently sits nine points clear of fellow hoop Jye McNeil at the top of the 2015-16 season standings, with Jack Martin a further point behind in third.
McNeil will partner Ray Besanko-trained Red Inca in Thursday’s event, while Martin does not have a ride.
Currently fourth in the standings, Ben Allen has been booked to ride Robert Smerdon’s Lemon Soju.
Coffey sits atop the competition after wins at Benalla aboard Native Warrior on September 15 last year and at Kyneton with I Bought A Horse on January 7.
Across the series, points are awarded for the top five placings in each race, with 12 for a win, six for second, four for third, two for fourth and one for fifth.
After Thursday’s event, there is 10 more races remaining in the 2015-16 series.
Ballarat will host another leg on Tuesday, March 22.
Thursday’s meeting is a seven-race card, with the first set to jump at 1.30pm and the last at 4.30pm.
