Members of the Ballarat Divisional Response Unit executed a search warrant at 2.30pm on a grow house located on a Midland Highway stretch, less than two kilometres from the central business district, with police subsequently securing several cannabis plants.
Ballarat Police Sergeant Paul Fitzgerald confirmed police apprehended one 28-year-old St Albans male for further questioning.
Sergeant Fitzgerald could not not confirm the exact number of cannabis plants that had been siezed.
He said it was a “reasonable” sized crop that took up most of the room in the house.
Police were still at work late in the afternoon, with the obtained marijuana plants being loaded into an unmarked truck.
The bust comes just weeks after a suspected grow house erupted into flames in Sebastopol.
