After all, the Roosters cricketers don’t want to lose to a bunch of footballers.
The clash – to be played at White Flat from 1pm – has been an annual fixture on the calendar of the North Ballarat cricket and football clubs as a way of keeping in touch.
And while it’s a bit of fun, both camps are taking things seriously.
VFL coach Marc Greig said the cricket club had the wood over his boys in recent years.
“The tables have certainly turned and yes it’s Twenty20, but we are certainly out there to win, trying to teach the boys winning becomes a habit,” Greig said.
Greig said the side would be joint-captained by Coleman Schache and Liam Youl.
Meanwhile, North Ballarat Cricket Club captain-coach Adam Eddy admits there is some pride on the line.
“They don’t like getting beat and we don’t really want to lose cricket to a football side either,” Eddy said.
