Ambulance Victoria confirmed they received calls about 5.50pm, with police and emergency services arriving to find the man had already died.

Daylesford Sergeant Barry Hills said police were currently trying to determine what had happened.

“It appears he’s been cutting up some felled trees and one has rolled back, which appears to have trapped him,” he said.

“Unfortunately he was trapped under the tree for some time.”

Wheatsheaf is located about 10 minutes east of Daylesford.
