CONSTRUCTION currently underway at Lucas will put more than $55 million into the Ballarat economy in the next few months, according to Integra development manager Nick Grylewicz.
Mr Grylewicz said yesterday there would be 100 houses built in the suburb’s first stage, called Lucas Dawn, in the next few months, generating about $35 million in construction costs.
A further $20 million would be created through the building of the Lucas Business Park and Town Centre.
“The economic impact of this project will underpin employment in the Ballarat development industry and deliver more work for Ballarat-based companies, create new jobs and help retain a skilled workforce,” Mr Grylewicz said.
Lucas Dawn is the first of five neighbourhood precincts, each one designed with a central park focus.
It features a 22-home display village featuring 15 different builders and set to open next March.
The first neighbourhood park will feature a playground, an oval and wide cycling and walking tracks connecting to an education precinct.
Mr Grylewicz said each of the five precincts was then centred around a large central district park incorporating sports fields, a lake, walking and cycling tracks and an adventure playground.
