Happy days as Ballarat turns on sunny weather

THE Ballarat weather had everyone talking yesterday  as the sun came out and lifted everyone’s mood.

For some, the sight of sunshine through their window at work was enough to knock off at midday and head to Lake Esmond for a swim.

Friends Fagyn Gwyther-McCuskey and Emelia Powell said there was no doubt in their minds about making the most of the warmer weather.

The 21-year-olds came set for the afternoon with towels, wetsuits, their bikinis, sunscreen, a mat to lie on, music and a wine cask.

Weather Bureau senior forecaster Scott Williams said Ballarat was yesterday graced with a sunny afternoon.

“It was very pleasant with only light winds and a maximum temperature of 20 degrees,” Mr Williams said.

“Today  is going to be equally as nice a day, with the temperature expected to reach around 22 degrees. It will be warmish on Thursday with a maximum temperature of 24 degrees but not as pleasant, with pretty strong winds and a weak cool change in the afternoon.”

Mr Williams said that after tomorrow the nice spell would end.

“On Friday it’ll be quite a bit cooler at 16 degrees and a chance of a morning rain.

“Saturday looks to be reasonably wet and only 13 degrees and on Sunday the temperature will go down to 12 degrees with a couple of showers.

“It is a bit of a rollercoaster with temperatures at this time of the year. We get a lot of variability in temperature depending on where the wind is coming from.”
