Welfare must not exceed basic wage

I HAVE a basic bottom line when it comes to the payment of social welfare benefits.

There should never be a situation where a person or family on welfare benefits can receive more income than the lowest paid person/family in the workforce.

Otherwise, there is no incentive whatsoever to be part of the workforce.

It actively encourages, even invites, people to live off social welfare long term.

I know of one family, comprising of four people, who receive more than $1000, per week, in total, from various benefits, from the taxpayer.

All tax-free plus a multitude of discounts associated with the much sought after health care card.
