Ilias Douis appeared in the Ballarat Magistrates Court on Wednesday where he pleaded guilty to one count of trafficking methylamphetamine.

The court heard Douis had been pointed out to police at the music festival on January 24.

Police prosecutor Leading Senior Constable Pepe Brown said Douis became aggressive towards security guards and police, appearing drug-affected and irrational.

He said a number of containers with 131 capsules of ice later fell out of Douis' pockets while being treated by medical staff.

Cash totaling $255 was also found on the accused and was presumed to be proceeds from the sale of the drugs.

Douis made a no comment interview, but in a statement said he found the capsules four hours before his arrest.

Douis' defence lawyer said his client was on a working visa in Australia with less than a month remaining on his visa.

He said Douis had been at the festival with friends where everyone had put in money to buy the drugs and share among themselves, but had no intention of selling the drugs to others.

He added the money found was to get Douis through the general expenses of the festival.

Having spent a month in custody, Douis' told his defence lawyer "I can't stand it here, these people are crazy".

Describing the offending as "lowest level", defence counsel said time already spent in custody was a significant punishment and deterrent for Douis.

Magistrate Kay Robertson told Douis trafficking drugs warranted a term of imprisonment in Australia.

She said she took into account this was Douis' first time in court in Australia, his guilty plea and willingness to co-operate with police.

She sentenced him to 28 days' imprisonment, making him eligible for release.

An Italian national (not associated with Douis) who was also charged with trafficking drugs at the same festival had his bail application adjourned until March 3.
