WANT to help battle the blues? Why not dress up in blue for a good cause.
The University of Ballarat is hosting a Blue Tie Ball this month to raise funds and awareness for beyondblue.
Director of Campus Life, Colin Marshall, said it was important for the university to take the lead in addressing mental health issues.
“About 160,000 young people aged between 16 and 24 live with depression each year,” he said. That’s a staggering number.
“We think it’s appropriate for the uni to take the lead and do what we can to raise awareness and assist those in the community who are struggling with mental health care issues.”
The evening’s host will be former Olympic swimmer Nicole Livingstone and Mr Marshall suggests wearing a formal outfit with “a touch of blue”.
“Hopefully, Ballarat’s sporting and broader community will get behind and support this event,” Mr Marshall said.
The Blue Tie Ball will be held on Saturday, October 20 with pre-dinner drinks commencing at 7pm.
The ball will feature a three-course meal, live music and several speakers.
Tickets cost $95 each. For more information, contact Ally Faithful on 5327 9322 or at a.faithful@ballarat.edu.au
