The Kookaburras have achieved an unlikely Ballarat Geelong premier division finals berth, their first since 2014.
Not only did Sebastopol need to win comprehensively over City Oval at home; it also needed Ocean Grove to fall short of second-placed Geelong City.
Even that may have not been enough, but fortune fell the Kookaburras' way on Saturday. They claimed three rinks over City Oval, winning 116-73, while Ocean Grove dropped two rinks in their 96-91 loss to Geelong City.
As a result, Sebastopol has finished in fourth spot on the ladder, just a solitary point above Ocean Grove.
Sebastopol tournament director Rob Baker said things somehow just fell into place.
"We consider ourselves extremely lucky," Baker said.
"We were absolutely gutted the week before when we lost (against Victoria) and knew the situation was out of our control.
"We heard that they (Ocean Grove) were four shots down on the last end. We were waiting with baited breath about whether they were going to get four shots and put us out or not, and it took a long, long time for them to finish.
"The word came in when all of us were in the club and a big cheer went up."
Sebastopol's Glen Sargent and his rink managed a monster 38-8 rink victory, which included a maximum score of eight at one end.
However, Baker said the work of Scott Roberts's rink was particularly influential.
"Credit shouldn't be taken away from them," Baker said.
"It was a very good battle. They picked up seven at one end just after afternoon tea, which was crucial.
"It helped ensure we got those extra points that we needed (to make the finals)."
Sebastopol will now play Queenscliff in a semi final this Saturday.
The Kookaburras enjoyed strong performances against Queenscliff earlier this season and will be hitting the finals with some momentum.
"The boys – and girl – are very determined now," Baker said.
"They had the belief a while ago that, if we proved we were good enough to get in, we would give it a very good shake.
"Our determination is high at the right point of the season. We've proven that we're good enough against Victoria, we're good enough against Queenscliff and we'd feel confident on a good green against Geelong City."
Queenscliff will likely be down on confidence when it heads into this weekend's semi-final, having lost 106-74 to sixth-placed Lara.
Meanwhile, Victoria has claimed the minor premiership, after sewing up top spot with a 126-73 win over Avenue.
The Big V will face off against Geelong City in the other semi-final this weekend.
After a difficult season, Webbcona finished on a high with an impressive 106-79 triumph over Torquay at home.
