SPRING carnival enthusiast and radio personality Jules Zass is the face of this year’s Ballarat Cup.
Ms Zass was revealed as the choice ambassador at Ballarat Turf Club’s launch last night for its cup carnival season.
The PowerFM breakfast host said she loved Cup day – but being The Face did add some added fashion expectations.
“It’s extremely exciting and I’m totally honoured to be asked,” Ms Zass said.
“I’ve made my own fascinators every year because I’ve dabbled in millinery.
“Now I’m going to have to look really good and make sure everything matches.”
Ms Zass has travelled far and wide to ensure she attends at least one race meet each spring, including cups in Woolamai on Phillip Island and Taree in New South Wales.
BTC chief executive officer Lachlan McKenzie said there was plenty to be excited about for this year’s cup on November 25.
Prizemoney for the 2200-metre feature has increased 33 per cent to $200,000 and the day will also feature the first clockwise event staged in Victoria for 100 years, the $200,000 Magic Millions Clockwise Classic.
BTC last night also unveiled a quirky new event added to the Cup program – a series of backwards running races (for humans) with a $10,000 prize pool, including $5000 for the winner.
Mr McKenzie said more than $600,000 was up for grabs on the track.
BTC members, sponsors and guests marked the season launch at the Unicorn Hotel.
