Three generations of Elshaugs train for the Run Ballarat event

RUN Ballarat will feature three generations of women this October with Bev Elshaug, her two daughters and grandson Quinn, 10 weeks.

The four girls will be hitting the pavement to help raise money for the Ballarat Health Services Base Hospital children’s ward.

Bev, 61, who only started running three years ago, will be the only one taking part in the 12km run, making it her mission to complete it, the cause being something close to her heart.

“I am a grandmother times three, the need for children’s hospital facilities is even more relevant. It is such a good cause because the facilities at the hospital are fairly antiquated. You don’t realize how important these services are until you need them and that certainly is the case recently for us,” Bev said.

Samantha underwent a caesarean when giving birth to Quinn ,10 weeks ago, but will still atempt the walk with Quinn in the pram.

“I’ve still got two weeks before I can start running so I’m going to do the walk which is fine,” Samantha said.

This event is something Samantha is passionate about not only for her own family but through her role at UFS as a business development manager.

“we were approached to sponsor Run Ballarat and we did not hesitate. Its a great community cause and it also promotes preventative health.”
