And they’re entitled to be.
White and his boys secured a narrow advantage on first innings, with their total of 164 just better than Brown Hill’s 146 batting second.
And after a Shane Harwood onslaught early in their second dig, the Pointies fought back with Saman Jayantha leading the side to a good position with an unbeaten knock of 78.
This has left Golden Point 158 runs ahead and with four wickets in hand when play resumes on Saturday.
“We’ve got runs on the board which is good,” White said.
“Obviously the game is still in the balance really and both sides have their opportunity, but if we can get a few more runs on the board it will continue to make it harder for them.”
White said he would like to get the lead up over 200 and was happy to take his team’s position over that of the Bulls moving into the second weekend.
“I think so, just with runs on the board. There’s a lot of pressure batting last, as long as we bowl well,” he said.
Knowles said his team had fought back into the match well and would be happy to chase a target around 220-230.
“They’re obviously in a better position because they won first innings, but we don’t mind the position we are in,” Knowles told The Courier.
With first innings victory in the bank, Golden Point now controls the match, with a wash-out - although unlikely - seeing the Pointies crowned champions.
