ONBALLER Ben Taylor and centre-courter Stacey McCartin have claimed Lake Wendouree’s top individual honours this Ballarat Football League season.
Taylor captured his fourth Peter “Joffa” O’Connell Medal as the Lakers’ best and fairest senior footballer.
McCartin capped off a stellar premiership season as senior netball best and fairest winner.
Taylor, the Lakers’ captain, polled 52 votes to finish a clear 30-votes winner of the medal, named in honour of BFL hall of famer, East Ballarat legend and inaugural Lakers coach Peter O’Connell.
Fellow onballer Billy Anderson was runner-up and ruckman Matt Tuminello finished third in the count on 30 votes, after missing six weeks while overseas.
Young wingman Angus Kirby was awarded the Leigh Williams Rising Star as a promising addition to the Lakers’ line-up.
Meanwhile, Lakers’ senior goal keeper Emma Burton – runner-up in the best and fairest – was awarded the Dale Shorter Courage Award, while Kara Hart won the netball coach’s award.
