HAS the time come to make it legal for women to carry pepper spray for their own protection?
Would such a device have saved Jill's life?
The pepper is not lethal but is very uncomfortable for the target and would give any lone woman a fighting chance as well as vital seconds to make an escape.
Had Jill pulled a can of spray instead of her mobile phone she would have signalled to all within range that she was in danger including a signal to her assailant that she was not a helpless victim.
Speculation at best but we might have had a different outcome.
