UB teamfires at Adelaide games

THE UNIVERSITY of Ballarat Blizzards have just returned from their most successful Uni Games. 

UB had 124 representatives play in 11 different sports at the Adelaide event during the university spring holidays. 

The Blizzards won two gold medals, with Jackson Bews taking the number one place in the pole vault and the ultimate frisbee team also proving they were the best.

Bews, an ultimate frisbee competitor as well, went home with two gold medals. 

Director of UB student connect Jeannie King attended the games and was very impressed by the team spirit of the Blizzards at this year’s campaign. 

“The camaraderie and unity of the squad was terrific,” Ms King said.

“Seeing UB students cheering teammates on at each other’s sports, as well as coming together for team dinners, created a really great environment.

“It’s no wonder the Blizzards had so many wins.”

UB also earnt silver medals in the mixed beach volleyball fours and the women’s 4x100 metre relay team.

Kate Ryan in the 200 metre hurdles and Ben Cook in the decathlon also walked away with the silver.

Bronze medals were also won by Emma Werner for her efforts in the hammer throw and Ben Cook in the pole vault.
