Leicester City have kept me waiting a long time. My role in the club's success began at Christmas 1993, when I went with friends to see the Foxes at the old Filbert Street ground to play Watford, who were struggling to hold even Elton John's attention. If we'd gone a few years earlier, we'd have seen Leicester's Gary Lineker against Watford's John Barnes. But by 1993 both teams were resolutely second-tier providers of raw material to the Premier League.
