After lowering their colours to South Melbourne 4-2 in round two – their first loss in 20 league games – Strikers meet South Yarra at Fawkner Park.
While South Yarra was not the powerhouse South Melbourne was last year, it has retained a greater percentage of its players.
Strikers are expecting a physical encounter on a smaller pitch, which will provide a further challenge to navigate.
Tess Meaden has been elevated into the starting line-up.
The 16-year-old has returned to the squad after a year as an exchange student in Brazil and in her first two games in the development squad has shown promising signs. Vanessa Yung has also been called up.
An injury cloud hovers over centre back Holly Williamson, who is struggling with a persistent hip issue and likely to play restricted time.
