Two men have been hospitalised after they were found slumped in a ute with suspected gunshot wounds in Melbourne's inner north.

The two men, aged in their 30s, were found in a white ute parked on Macarthur Road, near Royal Parade, in Parkville around 11.30pm on Thursday.
The suspected shooting took place close to the northern edge of Melbourne University's main campus.
Armed Crime Squad detectives are investigating the shooting and have found a gun and machete in the ute, which is believed to have been stolen.
An Ambulance Victoria spokesman said one man sustained multiple injuries and was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a critical condition.
He remains in an induced coma at hospital, police said in a statement.
The other man had injuries to his lower body and was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a stable condition.
