Rain swept across Victoria on Friday, with bureau figures revealing Mt Wombat in the North East had recorded the highest rainfall, with 81mm of rain in 24 hours.
Senior forecaster Peter Newham said Saturday was a "break day between fronts".
"We had a rainy day yesterday and there's a front coming tomorrow morning, so there will be showers and storms tomorrow around the state," Mr Newham said.
"There was always a lower chance of rain today, but it will increase overnight, around midnight."
Despite the rain on Friday, Mr Newham said Victoria had received below-average rainfall for April, and that would be clear in the final climate outlook the bureau will release next week.
Temperatures on Sunday will drop by about six degrees in Melbourne, to 19.
A strong wind warning has been issued for the West Coast on Saturday, on Sunday gale warnings have been issued for the Central, Central Gippsland and East Gippsland Coasts, strong wind warnings have been issued for Port Phillip, Western Port, Gippsland Lakes and the West Coast.
Looking at the week ahead, rain might be back again on Tuesday and Friday.
