After breaking a five-year winning drought against Skipton in round two, the Bulldogs made it back-to-back triumphs on home soil with a last-gasp victory against Carngham-Linton on Saturday.
Smythesdale snatched a three-point victory thanks to a late goal from Stephen Smith, who converted with just seconds to go before the final siren.
The 8.9 (57) to 7.12 (54) result lifts the Bulldogs to 11th on the ladder ahead of a clash with Rokewood-Corindhap and leaves Carngham-Linton winless moving into a fixture with Dunnstown.
Meanwhile, Springbank traveled to Hepburn and toppled the Burras by 35 points and Daylesford coach Marcus Goonan was able to celebrate his first success at his new club after the Bulldogs ran out convincing 49-point winners against Creswick.
Bungaree, Beaufort and Waubra remain undefeated following respective victories against Learmonth, Skipton and Dunnstown, while Gordon thrashed Rokewood-Corindhap by 109 points.
Ballan bounced back to winning ways with a crushing 113-point result against Clunes, as did Buninyong courtesy of a 136-point trouncing of Newlyn.
