Groom: Luke Cairns, who is the son of Helen and Ross Irving, and Wayne Cairns
Date: February 13
The meeting: We met on the beach in Thailand, at Koh Samui, while holidaying with our friends. From there we got to know each other.
The proposal: We were on a holiday in America and went on a day trip to Niagara Falls where Luke popped the question in front of everyone. He had worded up our fellow travellers and they got it all on video. It was so unexpected and beautiful.
The wedding day: We were married on the beach at Barwon Heads, with a reception also held locally. The wedding was at 3pm and the day ran perfectly from getting ready for the ceremony and then the fun reception part. Our wedding theme was elegant/beach style with beautiful colours and loads of fun. We had two parts of our reception that were extra special to us - fireworks and also buckets from where we met in Thailand.
Our bridal party included best man Beau (Luke’s brother) and friends Daniel, Matt, Michael and Dean. The maid of honour was Elizabeth and the bridesmaids were my sister Maddie, Emma, Jodi and Michaela. The flowergirls were our nieces Imogine, Lanah & Willow and the ring bearer was my nephew Rhyder.
The two witnesses were Luke’s brother Tim Irving and my best friend Elizabeth Jarvis.
Our wedding was perfect – everything we wanted and more. It was beautiful, fun, entertaining and relaxed. We wanted everyone to have a great day and night.
The dress: The dress was an elegant strapless lace, sweetheart cut gown with a drop from the hips. It was in a flowing style to suit the beach and the theme of the summer wedding feel. Our hair and makeup was done by Taboo on Ripon. My friends Emma and Holly made sure we all looked stunning for my big day and the flowers were from Jenny Bourke Florist, who created masterpieces.
The cake: Our cake was made by a dear friend who owns 3 Tiers for Cake. She created the brilliant four tiered cake with a different flavour in each tier - chocolate orange, red velvet, white chocolate mud with lime and white chocolate with raspberry. The cake was so tasty guests were wanting more.
The photographer: Our photographer was Tim Scanlon, a local Ballarat photographer who captured the day perfectly. Our photos say it all.
The honeymoon: Our honeymoon will be in July as we are off to Europe for their summer.
