A pedestrian has died after being hit by a car in Melbourne's north-east, police say.

Investigators believe the pedestrian, a woman in her 60s, was crossing Vine Street in Eltham when they were struck by the car, a Victoria Police spokeswoman said.
The pedestrian died at the scene and has not yet been identified.
The driver of the car was not injured and is helping police, the spokeswoman said.
