Tate has taken on the Burra as his home club.
The Roosters announced late last month Tate was coming back to Ballarat after more than a year in Western Australia, where he played with Claremont in the WAFL.
Sebastopol coach Shane Snibson said getting Tate on its list was encouraging for the club.
“It’s good news for us,” he said.
While acknowledging the Burra was unlikely to have his services too often, Snibson said any time Tate played would be great.
Sebastopol had Matt Austin and Rowan Marshall from the Roosters play with it last year.
Tate left the Roosters at the end of the 2014 VFL season – moving to Perth to further his studies. He is returning to Ballarat to take up full-time employment as a podiatrist.
He has been playing with Claremont this season and is expected to go straight into the Roosters’ line-up after this outing in the BFL.
