A person has died in a fiery collision between a car and a truck in Pakenham South.

Police have been told the car was travelling south on Koo Wee Rup Road when it hit a north-bound truck near the intersection of Watson Road at about 7.30am.
The truck then caught on fire.
The Pakenham Gazette reported that a witness at the scene recounted a "horrible, big explosion".

The driver and sole occupant of the car died at the scene, while the male truck driver and male passenger escaped injury.
The deceased is yet to be formally identified.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or to make a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
The road toll is now 108, compared to 98 at the same time last year.
