The Selkirk Roosters will need to quell a Tiger attack boasting an abundance of height.
Coach Marc Greig said Richmond had a long-kicking game.
Then their tall forwards do the rest, with their marking power providing an opportunity to get all-important marks inside their 50 metres.
Ivan Maric heads up the tall timber for Richmond which Andrew Boseley and Rowan Marshall are going to have to deal with for North Ballarat.
Greig’s initial plan this year was to nurture Marshall as a centre half back.
A hamstring injury to Orren Stephenson forced Marshall into the ruck in the early rounds, but Greig is now getting a chance to put his plan in place and it is timely given what Richmond will throw at the Roosters.
While it is not showing on the scoreboard, North Ballarat is proving highly competitive in the battle for clearances.
Greig said the Roosters had only been down a handful to the Western Bulldogs, but the 100-point plus loss showed they were not taking advantage.
“We’re going to focus on this for the rest of the year.”
Greig also wants to put a bigger emphasis on asserting pressure in the first quarter. Geelong and Western Bulldogs have established match-winning breaks in the opening terms of North Ballarat’s latest two outings.
“We need to put a stop to this.”
Like the Roosters, Richmond is on one win for the season.
MEANWHILE, North Ballarat has two players in the initial VFL training squad announced on Friday.
Nick Rippon and Luke Kiel are in a 30-man squad, which has just six players with previous state game experience.
Roosters’ head coach Marc Greig is on the coaching panel under head coach Andy Collins.
The squad will be reviewed after this weekend before a final training squad of 25 is selected for the clash with the SANFL at the Adelaide Oval on Sunday, May 29..
