Despite four opening term lead changes the home side gained the ascendancy by the end of the opening half, with the Rush opening the gap to more than 10 points. Abbey Wehrung was again the aggressor at the Minerdome, hitting the scoreboard early before going on to register 24 points for the match.
A huge 26 point third term from the Lady Blues saw the visitors head into the final period of play with the advantage, with Frankston’s Kelly Bowen and Kayla Standish providing the bulk of the firepower.
While the Rush managed to establish a five point lead the Lady Blues managed to claw back to hold a two point buffer with just seconds remaining. A personal foul with six seconds to spare gave the Rush’s Kerryn Harrington three throws from the line, however the co-captain could only convert oncee, handing the Lady Blues the points.
