Today on Crime Stoppers Day the not-for-profit organisation is reminding the community that they have the power to help solve crimes and reduce crime and violence.
In 2015, an average of more than 210 contacts were made to Crime Stoppers daily, demonstrating Victorians’ commitment to stamp out crime and keep communities safe.
“Information from the public over the 29 years has helped police solve extremely serious crimes including more than 70 murder cases, as well as sexual assaults, armed robberies and serious assaults,” said Crime Stoppers Victoria CEO Sam Hunter. “
“We know that even the smallest piece of information can help locate wanted persons and solve crimes, and we urge the community to continue to be our eyes and ears and report any information they may have about crime or anything suspicious they might see happening in their neighbourhoods.
“As a community we often underestimate the difference we can make towards creating a safer Victoria. Everyone has a role to play either by reporting crime or by supporting Crime Stoppers by donating online.”
