Eighteen-year-old Jacinta Goodger-Chandler was just one of two girls from Victoria selected in the 14 player squad who will play five games in India, starting against the Delhi women’s team on May 22.
The side will then travel to play the Yuvraj Singh Cricket Academy before taking part in three matches against the Mumbai Cricket Association Women’s Team.
The side will be captained by Ash Garder, who plays for the Sydney Sixers in the Women’s Big Bash competition.
Along with the five games the side will also travel to the Taj Mahal as well as visiting the Australian High Commission in Delhi.
Organised by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s Australia-India Counci, it will be the first time the 10-day tour has been conducted between the two countries, and aims to foster a greater cultural understanding and respect between Australia and India.
The Clunes teenager’s selection caps off an impressive season which was highlighted by her selection in the Victorian under-18 squad which won the under-18’s national championship after defeating New South Wales Metropolitan in the final.
In 2015 Goodger-Chandler also received just one of two Indigenous scholarships handed out by Cricket Australia.
