But Roger Bade was happy to wear many hats on Wednesday for the Australian Library and Information Association’s National Simultaneous Storytime.
Mr Bade read the book I Got This Hat to prep and grade one pupils as part of a nationwide reading celebration.
More than half a million children in more than 3000 locations across the country had the same book read to them at the same time.
The book explores the surprisingly large world of hats, with the Grammar pupils responding with squeals of delight to each new headwear example.
One enterprising young pupil was quick to realise the potential in a deep sea diving helmet.
“It’s for looking for treasure!” he said.
And prep pupils Emmy and Patrick both thought the book reading was “cool”.
“I liked the Mexican hat,” Emmy said while Patrick preferred the tropical version because “it had grass on it!”
