The Maggie-singing pair – possibly Ireland’s most famous and successful duo ever – have been performing together for more than 40 years, and continue to give the younger generations of pop and rock arists a run for their money in terms of record sales.
The pair has sold 20 million records, putting them in the same league as other Irish greats like U2, Enya, Boyzone and The Corrs.
With 27 albums chalked up since 1975, Foster and Allen first sprung into the world’s consciousness when they appeared on the Top of the Pops.
Until that time, they had been working the local music circuits of Ireland and England, gaining popularity until they released their first single and massive hit, The Rambles of Spring.
The pair are currently on their 18th tour of Australia, and will be accompanied by their band featuring Moyra Fraser on keyboards, Ollie Kennedy on bass guitar and Bryan O’Donnell on guitar, performing their hits such as Bunch of Thyme, Maggie and After All These Years.
They will also perform songs from their new album, Celebration.
Foster and Allen will perform at Her Majesty’s Theatre on June 11. Tickets available at www.hermaj.com or by phoning 5333 5888.
